About us

Laura Prince’s universe ? Authenticity and sincerity

Author, composer, performer, she wants to stay in harmony with herself and the world around her. She defends a refined music that speaks of her childhood fears, the diversity of her roots, her sorrows of love.

She has an atypical background, of those who inspire.

Daughter of TOGO and France, she has always been rocked by world music: the Cuban salsa of Celia Cruz, the afrobeat of Fela Kuti and the makossa of Manu Dibango , but also by the emotion of Piaf and Barbara, the cry of Brel and the swing of Aznavour...

Thanks to her father, she is influenced by the music of Mozart and Bach, she makes her ear intuitively, while singing and playing her first compositions on a small piano offered by her mother.

At the age of 13, she learned to read music and master harmony to accompany herself on the piano.

She composed and played her first piano/vocals: “A young heart with an old soul”.

She is excited about this era of civil rights advocacy, the birth of blues and jazz, where you sing with your soul and where your favorite artists are born, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Etta James ...

She then takes dance, jazz, hip hop/house and salsa classes, draws, and is interested in cinema.

Artistic influences that inspire him to create his own music.

After graduating, still curious about her origins, she studied ethnomusicology at the university of ParisX. At 19, she works on her voice and takes gospel singing lessons at the Bleu studio in Paris. At the same time, she became conductor (alto) and took piano lessons with Philippe Baden Powell.

Despite personal hardships, moves and odd jobs. Laura continues to live her passion for music. She travels from the Americas to Asia, from Europe to Africa, and in particular to her native country, Togo, where she returns from a great and inspired journey.

She has definitely chosen music, the one that heals, comforts, frees.

In 2021, she produced her album «Peace of mine» with Grégory Privat on piano, Tilo Bertholo on drums, Zacharie Abraham on double bass and Inor Sotolongo on percussion.

Through this album, she comes to share with us her inner peace that came with time, that of little Laura who hid herself to escape the storms and who already listened to the sounds of the winds of Africa and Navarre.

“Révélation Jazz” according to Jazz Magazine in 2021, she is currently performing at the major jazz festivals of France , Marciac, Jazz à Sète, Jazz à Vienne, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat , Monte Carlo Jazz Festival, as well as in Europe and Africa.

In 2025, she released her second album 'Adjoko', a very personal album from the thousand colors of mixing, thousand sounds mixed with African and western music in which Laura has bathed since her childhood in Togo.

Born of a Togolese father and a French mother, Laura was immersed from childhood in a world of a thousand colours and a thousand sounds, blending classical music and African music, thanks to her music-loving parents.

After her highly acclaimed debut album ‘Peace of Mine’, for which she was named ‘vocal jazz revelation of the year’ by Jazz Magazine, Laura Prince prepares a new album, ‘Adjoko’, which draws on the thousand colours and sounds of African and Western music that Laura has been immersed in since her childhood in Togo.

With ADJOKO, Laura Prince delivers an intimate and vibrant album, at the crossroads of jazz, soul, and traditional African songs. The result of an immersion in Togo, this second opus explores the quest for origins and transmission.

Adjoko, her Togolese first name, becomes a powerful symbol of identity, also resonating as a tribute to Mary Prince, a figure of emancipation. A musical journey between memory, freedom, and modernity.
